Our client, a leader in the Green Tech industry, is a growing and dynamic business with ambitious expansion plans. They are a key business unit of a leading timber processor in the UK & Ireland. Their bespoke facility in Irvine is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, dedicated to the house-building sector.

Reporting to the Design Manager, we have an exciting opportunity for a skilled Timber Frame Technician to join an ambitious and expanding business. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing timber frame structures, working closely with clients, client representatives, and the internal production team. The clientele ranges from private individuals to prestigious national building and construction companies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design Program Management: Create and manage design programs in line with client contractual agreements.
  • Technical Drawings: Prepare technical and construction drawings and details in line with project budgets.
  • Manufacturing Information: Generate detailed manufacturing information and accurate component lists to facilitate factory operations.
  • Construction Information: Produce detailed construction information for site teams to deliver the product without compromising on programme, quality, health & safety, and cost.
  • Risk Management: Identify and manage risk through proper coordination of design information in line with project programs.
  • External Liaison: Liaise with external consultants and suppliers to ensure consistent design delivery.
  • Site Support: Provide suitable support to site teams to ensure compliance with statutory requirements (planning, building control, etc.) and to identify improvements in construction detailing and techniques.
  • Client Relationships: Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships with key accounts.
  • Project Coordination: Liaise with client design teams and external consultants regarding live projects, and with site teams about arising queries.
Skills and Experience:
  • Drawing Interpretation: Ability to read and understand architectural/engineering drawings.
  • Design Capability: Strong design awareness and proven capability for producing manufacturing information to a high standard.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of post-qualification experience, preferably from a timber design background.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Knowledge of current Scottish Planning & Building Standards Regulations.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in AutoCAD software.
  • Regulations Awareness: Sound awareness of CDM Regulations and NHBC Standards.
  • IT Skills: Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite of products.
