Welding and Joining Engineer

The Welding and Joining Engineer will:
- Engage with industrial equipment suppliers to specify, commission and install joining equipment.
- Be responsible for Welding, Soldering and Adhering activities across the business in the field of lithium-ion battery cell and module & pack manufacturing.
- Engage with the research community, collaborate, and contribute to technology development roadmaps and creation of new processes and methods of processing.
- Coordinate with Manufacturing and Product Engineers to provide manufacturability studies for welds in battery cells and module & packs while maintaining quality, safety and environmental standards and achieving targets in a timely fashion.
- Create welding reports and records for audit.
- Take part in laboratory equipment review, bring recommendations and feedback on topics such as measuring tools and inspection equipment or methods.
- Coordinate work with others to meet specified project aims, based on a general approach set out by a Lead Engineer or above.
The Welding and Joining Engineer will have:
- Technical mindset, both practical and analytical.
- Basic understanding of Mechanical and Electrical machine data.
- Extensive knowledge of Laser Welding processes.
- Good knowledge of Resistance and other welding plus Soldering processes.
- Knowledge of Adhesive Technologies and processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills are essential.
- Good communication skills both verbal and written in English.
