Our client on the outskirts of Coventry is looking for an experienced Buyer due to Growth, investment and a full order book for years to come. Our client has an international customer base and produce their own products as a specialist in their sector of engineering. Due to growth within the business and expansion into a new facility our client can offer and interesting and engaging work environment. The ideal candidate will have experience within a similar environment either in engineering or manufacturing, but all experience will be considered. The purpose of this role is for the Buyer to oversee the purchasing projects and vendor management effectively and accurately. Work on Purchasing projects which in turn will reduce cost of materials and services to the company. It will also involve managing & improving deliveries into the company in order to maintain targeted production levels through direct interaction with Suppliers and internal departmental heads.

Buyer responsibilities

  • To keep stock order levels accurate & ensure on time delivery of both spot orders and blanket orders.
  • Manage Kanban/Consignment stock systems, stock levels, introduction & deletion of new parts.
  • Undertake consumable ordering for production ensuring an option of tact time improvement
  • Work with suppliers to identify cost saving opportunities for the Company.
  • Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships.
  • Undertake visits where required to assist in supplier development and commencement.
  • Ensure stores runs efficiently incorporating new and efficient stock control systems / methods.
  • Manage stores inclusive of Despatch & Customer logistical liaison.

  • Purchase goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets
  • Ensure continuous supply of required goods and materials and communicate any supply problems which may pose a risk or impact on business operations
  • To gain an understanding of the manufacture & use of all parts under your immediate control.
  • Improve the availability of parts to production.
  • Show cost savings through costing exercises, resourcing, and supplier development.

Buyer Standards of Performance

  • On time deliveries will be measured.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of different production methods.
  • Ensure all paperwork throughout the purchasing system is produced & actioned so that a flexible working environment can be achieved.
  • Project manage resource, cost saving and quality improvement projects to achieve targeted goals.
  • Store’s effectiveness and system improvements.
  • Recording price increase avoidance & PPV improvement. (I.e., Identifying accounting mistakes)

Buyer Salary and hours

  • £35,000 per annum
  • Monday to Thursday 08:00 – 16:30 Friday 08:00 – 13:00
  • 33 days holiday
