About the role

In your role as Model Risk and Control Analyst you will make a meaningful and valued contribution from the outset. This role will provide a great opportunity to work effectively and collaboratively with the Risk, Performance and ALM teams to promote and establish a model risk culture in the Financial Risk function.

You will ensure model risk is understood and managed within the Financial Risk function by critically assessing the end-to-end processes and controls environment around models, assisting with model validation and taking ownership of monitoring model risk events.

What you will be doing

As a trusted part of the PAIR you will be responsible for:

  • Understand, evaluate and document the end-to-end cycle of models in the Financial Risk function, with a focus on data inputs & outputs and their associated processes and controls
  • Enhance the controls environment in the Financial Risk function by identifying improvement actions and working with model owners to implement them
  • Assist with model validation as required, which may include developing challenger models
  • Help promote a model risk culture in the Financial Risk function by regularly interacting with model owners and providing ad-hoc model risk support as required
  • Assist with the evaluation of risk events ensuring the correct causes are registered and reported to various internal committees
  • Ensure risk events are followed by appropriate remediation actions and track their resolutions

  • Experience with process development, optimisation or automation
  • Programming (Python, SQL and Excel)

  • Ability to break down complex concepts into simple components
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Good understanding of financial markets and instruments gained through courses or experience
