Are you looking for a finance role within a stable and professional organisation?  If so, our client based in Thurrock is looking for a Trainee Legal Cashier to join their team.  This full time, permanent office-based position would suit a highly organised, numerate and analytical person with previous office experience and good knowledge of Excel.  Full training will be given along with great opportunities to further develop your skills and experience.

The Trainee Legal Cashier duties involve:-

•              Processing of all electronic payments and receipts

•              Banking cash and cheques received and posting transactions on to accounting system.

•              Checking of all payment requests and making payment.

•              Taking credit and debit card payments from clients.

•              Processing any inter account transfers and making sure any disbursements included are paid in accordance with Solicitors Accounts Rules.

•              Checking and posting staff expense and overtime claims on Excel in readiness for

                processing through the payroll.

•              Controlling and reconciliation of the petty cash tins for all branches and posting journals.

•              Processing of Not Yet Paid Disbursements, Office Creditor invoices and Freelancer/Consultants invoices:

•              Payment Runs: Producing a report from the system and paying all suppliers (criminal counsel, office creditors) within their payment terms.

  • Communicating with clients and stakeholders regarding financial queries and providing them with exceptional customer service at all times.

Requirements for the Trainee Legal Cashier role:-

  • GCSEs in Maths and English (or equivalent).  An A level or equivalent in Finance or business-related subjects would be a distinct advantage.
  • Previous experience in an office, ideally a finance related role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Familiarity with accounting software would be a distinct advantage
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently when required
  • Eagerness to learn and develop new skills with a professional approach to work
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively

In return for your hard work, our client is offering a salary of £25,600pa, 24 days holiday which rises with service, full training and development.

The working hours for this role are 8.30am – 5.00pm Monday to Friday.
