Direct Response Employment Services are delighted to be supporting our client in Frome who are looking to add additional talent to the team to support their growth plans. 

Having doubled in size over the last 4 years they are now seeking an additional Lab Technician to join the team on a permanent basis. 

The Role: 

As a lab technician you will have previous experience within a laboratory role, ideally within the food industry and be able to commit to working a three shift rotating pattern (including Bank Holidays) Monday to Friday 6am-2pm/ Monday to Friday 2pm-10pm / Sunday to Thursday 10pm-6am.

Key Duties: 

• To be able to carry out all tests within both labs (Chemistry and Microbiology), media preparation and operate equipment such as Autoclaves, FTIR Spectroscopes, NIR spectrometers
• To be able to carry out environmental and plant hygiene swabs
• To be able to complete when required taste panels, and management of reference samples
• To work safely regarding personal safety and the safety of colleagues and others
• To be able to work unsupervised but within an agreed work schedule
• To be able to ensure that all stock is rotated correctly, conduct stock-takes and report to management any stock needs
• To carry out housekeeping duties as per schedule and to dispose of waste in a safe and  correct manner
• To be competent with lab databases LIMs or similar system
• To demonstrate competency in testing via internal and external monitoring procedures, and to conduct internal audits to given schedule
• To be able to collate all out of spec’ results on the daily exception report and circulate to the designated list
• To determine and act on non-complying results by communicating information and following up with re-sampling and re-testing
• To respond to requests for product release by email/telephone
• To prioritise the given work load, and to ensure lab KPIs are met

The Ideal Candidate: 

• Have at least 12 months experience within a Lab environment. 
• Computer Literate.
• To be able to communicate effectively with colleagues and all levels of management
• To be able to demonstrate ability to work under pressure, assess workload and breaks to ensure all the testing required is carried in a timely manner
