The Role – English Teacher

We are actively recruiting for an English Teacher with previous experience teaching students with SEMH needs, Learning Difficulties and Autism. The role will require you to plan and deliver lessons from the sensory curriculum that will stimulate and engage the students with their learning. You will be teaching GCSE English and Functional Skills to a small class of students who have been diagnosed on the Autistic Spectrum, have learning difficulties as well as Social, Emotional, Mental Health needs. Due to the students’ needs, it is desirable for the ideal English Teacher to have experience working with children or young people who have SEMH/SEN needs but not essential as the school is willing to take on a mainstream English Teacher. Additional support from TA’s will be provided in the classroom.

This SEN school is located in the London Borough of Harrow and caters for students between the ages of 11-19 years who have various Special Educational Needs such as Specific Learning Difficulty, Visual Impairment, Other Difficulty/Disability, Hearing Impairment, Speech, language and Communication, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Social, Emotional and Mental Health, Multi-Sensory Impairment, Physical Disability, Moderate Learning Difficulty, Severe Learning Difficulty and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulty. They currently have 56 students who attend the school and an Ofsted rating of ‘Outstanding’ in all areas from their last inspection in September 2019.
