Electrical Engineer

Job Location:              Dorchester, Dorset

Job Type:                    Permanent

Salary:                         Up to £17.25 per hour, dependent on level of experience

Hours:                          39 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 8am to 5pm with a 4pm finish on Friday

A leading engineering company who specialises in design and manufacturing of state-of-the-art Industrial Automation Technology and robotics.

This is a great company who are building specialised advanced robotic equipment of various sizes and for various applications.

Your role will see you involved in all electrical works in the building of one off’s and also protypes. You will be working from drawings undertaking the building, fitting, making: cables, looms, wiring, control panels, cabinets, switches to final wiring.

On some of the protypes you will be required to advise designers and other engineers of any issues, offer solutions and maybe even better ways for the works to be completed.

The range of equipment that you could be working on is varied and vast and we are seeking Electrical Engineers who have a broad skills knowledge & capabilities to work on a selection of the following:

• Construction, testing and commissioning of electrical cabinets and switchgear
• Electrical fitting and commissioning of robotic attachments
• Testing and fault finding of electronics, updating firmware, software.
• Making and testing of custom cable looms
• Using a large range of crimping tools and terminals
• Connection and testing of many kinds of connectors
• PAT testing
• Fault finding and rectification of electrical issues

As one of the companies Engineers we are looking for the successful applicants to possess the following:

• Excellent electrical skills
• The ability to fault find, diagnose and offer solutions to a varied range of electrical issues
• Able to read and work from drawings
• Formal electrical qualifications or apprentice trained would be advantageous   
• The ability to work under pressure and to tight timeframes
• Willingness to help with other department / teams
