Accountancy Tutor | New Cross & Gillingham | Full time – 37.5 hours per week | FTE - £30,000 - £35,000 dependent on experience and qualifications

Our client is a non-profit making organisation which focuses on offering quality Accountancy Training and other specialist training courses.

They are now looking to add a bright and ambitious AAT/ACCA Tutor to their team. This position would best suit someone who enjoys passing on their knowledge and experience.

In particular, the successful candidate will be responsible for the teaching/ coordination of our accounting trainings, and to deliver Functional Skills to our Apprentices and our adult learners in small classes (of 18 learners max). An Accountant with practical experience and teaching experience will be desirable.

Please note- A DBS check at an enhanced level (formerly CRB check) must be undertaken by all candidates and be satisfactory as a condition of employment with The Training Place of Excellence.

  • Proficiency in using accounting software
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Ability to motivate and teach
  • Patience and understanding
  • Proven experience in a previous Accounting tutor role at all Levels and the ability to explain difficult concepts in an understandable way.
  • Experience in the Apprenticeship standards at all Levels and the End Point Assessment.
  • Practical experience in an accounting role.
  • Excel at training, engaging and motivating learners of all ages and backgrounds
  • A background in accountancy and qualified to AAT Technician level at minimum
  • A1 and teaching qualifications preferable
  • Experience in delivering Functional Skills trainings is preferred, but not essential
  • Excellent IT and communication skills with knowledge of Sage 50 Accounts and Excel
  • Ability to work in a small team, with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to meet deadlines, a high level of commitment and absolute focus on quality of work

What will your role look like?

  • Carry out training sessions which engage and enthuse the learners using real-life examples and up-to-date teaching methods
  • Teach accounting courses, business administration and functional skills courses
  • Manage the apprentices on the apprenticeship programme, including meeting with them, reviewing their tasks, assisting with their portfolios and ensuring they are exam ready
  • Assess and mark assignments within strict deadlines and guidelines
  • Manage and supervise accounting tasks delivered by apprentices
  • Maintain student attendance records and grades
  • Multi-tasking and working within a small team to ensure team objectives are met
  • Carry out general office and admin duties
