To support continued business development, we currently have a vacancy for an Application Engineer.  This is a varied role working as part of an Engineering team to provide Engineering expertise both internally to the operational areas of the business and technical product support to our customers and distribution network.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support the Sales Managers with the technical aspects of developing new business opportunities.
  • Interpret and develop customer specifications to realise prototype products for evaluation.
  • Work closely with our Japanese colleagues to ensure designs are fit for the European market.
  • Provide product training and support to OEM customers and distributors.
  • Support customers during start up and commissioning of equipment using i hydraulic components and systems.
  • Represent during technical meetings providing technical product presentations to potential and existing customers.
  • Provide necessary Engineering support to all internal stakeholders (Test Rigs, Production Engineering, Production, Quality, purchasing etc.)
  • Provide Engineering support to our quality and strategic purchasing team with alternative material selection and standards comparisons relating to Japanese standards and ISO standards.
  • Development of Engineering procedures and methods to optimise value within the application Engineering team.
  • Creation of 3D models, 2D drawings and creation of bills of material.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Preferably a degree qualified Mechanical Engineer.
  • A professional, disciplined Engineer with a logical approach to problem solving who takes care and attention to detail.
  • An appreciation of NPI (New Product Introduction) and APQP (Advanced Product Quality planning).
  • Competence in Project Management techniques and methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic component specification and application would be advantageous.
  • Able to write well structured, concise technical reports.
  • Understanding of Manufacturing processes and measurement methodologies.
  • Full Driving licence.

There will be a requirement for occasional travel to customers in the UK and overseas to provide engineering support.
