As we often say as an introduction to our new roles: why work for one company when you can influence your entire sector for the better?

We have an important hands-on opportunity for an experienced Health and Safety professional to support the mineral products sector to deliver ‘Vision Zero’, which combines four key elements that will help the industry to ensure that 'everyone goes home safe and well everyday.'

  • Promoting and embedding the six key values to embrace that will help change behaviour.
  • Maintaining a focus on the six high consequence hazards most likely to kill, seriously injure or impact the long-term health of the workforce in the Mineral products industry - 'The Fatal 6'.
  • Promoting six initiatives (Safer by …) that support members to maintain a focus on safety.
  • Monitoring and reporting leading and lagging indicators that help the industry to measure progress.
The Health and Safety Manager will assist the Head of Health and Safety by providing leadership, advice and professional support and guidance to MPA Members concerning all aspects of occupational health, safety and welfare, including public safety so that they can achieve Vision Zero.

You will be actively engaging with Members, which includes: visiting sites across the country that deliver a wide range of products; delivering activities to bring about positive health and safety outcomes; and by demonstrating leadership and the shared purpose of MPA in all aspects of occupation health and safety.

What are we looking for in you in return?
  • Experience of managing health and safety in a relevant industry sector.
  • Possess sound technical knowledge of health and safety matters affecting the mineral products industry including knowledge of legislative requirements and the regulatory framework.
  • Be able to demonstrate professional competence through possession of relevant technical and professional qualifications, including membership of relevant professional bodies.
  • IT literate, plus a full UK driving licence.
  • Possess strong communication skills and relationship building skills and be able to demonstrate an ability to communicate with a broad range of people through a range of media including written and verbal.
PLEASE NOTE: The role offers the opportunity to be office-based (London or Leicester) or hybrid, with the need to travel to Member sites and meetings as required.
