Rise Recruitment Solutions is on the lookout for a highly motivated and driven Home Delivery Depot Manager to join a Distribution company based in Daventry. Our client is a privately owned, dynamic business, focused on providing home appliance solutions to retailers, consumers and business to business customers.

The Role:

  • To oversee the management of the company owned/leased fleet for Home Delivery based at the Daventry Depot.
  • To oversee the management and development of the Home Delivery Drivers.
  • To ensure all legal requirements are met in relation to vehicles, Health & Safety (H&S) and Human Resources (HR).
  • To ensure the smooth running of the Depot. To ensure thorough management of equipment, personnel and processes that all duties are completed in a timely manner in accordance with specifications and ‘Good Practice’ requirements. To ensure a safe working environment. To agree and meet objectives in line with business needs
  • To undertake miscellaneous tasks as required supporting the effective running of the business.

Fleet Management

  • To oversee the management of the Home Delivery vehicles assigned to the Daventry Hub, ensuring adequate vehicles are available to meet delivery requirements.
  • To be responsible for vehicle maintenance through implementation of procedures to record and monitor vehicle defects, completing periodic checks to ensure compliance.
  • To support Home Delivery Team Leader / Co-ordinator’s to ensure vehicles and drivers always have the appropriate equipment, to carry out their role and meet H&S requirements.

Team Management

  • Ensure the knowledge, expertise and skills of the teams are continuously monitored, supporting managers to provide coaching and training if deficiencies exist.
  • Support Driver/Hub Supervisor’s with the recruitment of staff to the Home Delivery Team.
  • Lead on the appraisals for the Hub/Driver Supervisor’s and other staff aligned to the role and ensure their Teams are appraised.
  • Provide supervision, mentoring and pastoral care to your Hub/Driver Management Team.
  • Support the Hub/Driver Supervisor’s to ensure their teams are motivated, focussed and adequately trained to carry out their responsibilities.
  • To hold regular 1:1’s with the Hub/Driver Supervisor’s and support them to ensure that all staff they manage receive regular 1:1’s.
  • Ensure all probation reviews are conducted by Hub/Driver Supervisor’s at regular intervals throughout the probation period ensuring staff reach the required standard for the role they have been employed.
  • Co-ordinate and chair meetings as required to ensure there is effective communication of key messages to the teams and to ensure feedback can be heard and fed upward to management for review.
  • Manage investigations and/or disciplinary and/or capability procedures as and when required inline with company policy.

Person Specification

  • Ability to cope in a fast-moving environment with a flexible can-do attitude.
  • Understands and can respond to customer needs.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to develop good working relationships with the customer, drivers, and senior managers.
  • Must be self-motivated with a can-do approach as this is an operational role and you will be the first point of contact for drivers.
  • Previous experience using Microsoft office, Excel, is essential.
  • Whilst previous logistics experience and experience of Transport Management Systems is desirable, it is not essential, as training can be provided.
  • CPC is desirable but not essential
