About the Role

As an Estimator, you will:

  • Conduct detailed and precise take-offs and cost estimates for various Civil Engineering projects, including roads, highway drainage, street lighting, and traffic signals.
  • Analyze project specifications, drawings, and other documents to grasp project requirements and constraints.
  • Meet deadlines to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Utilize industry-standard estimating software to prepare accurate cost estimates, adhering to company standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Sub-Contractors to gather necessary information for cost estimation.
  • Evaluate material, labor, and equipment costs to determine cost-effective solutions while maintaining quality.
  • Identify and quantify project risks and contingencies to develop comprehensive cost estimates.
  • Prepare detailed cost breakdowns, conduct site visits, and negotiate with clients and subcontractors as needed.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, market conditions, and cost factors to ensure competitiveness and accuracy.
  • Assist in value engineering initiatives to optimize project costs without compromising quality or performance.

Candidate Requirements

  • HNC, HND, or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or a related field).
  • Proven experience as an Estimator in Civil Engineering or Construction.
  • Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Proficiency in industry-related estimating software and tools.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in assessing project costs and risks.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to ethical standards, integrity, and professionalism.
  • UK Driving License.
