Bank Mental Health Support Worker - £12.50 - £13.50 per hour

Hours – Monday – Sunday, shifts include days, evenings, nights and weekends.

Services – Grove House - Oxford, St Gabriels – Headington and Scrutton Close - Headington

What You’ll Be Doing:

We are looking for a Bank Mental Health Support Worker to join our team in Oxfordshire, to provide support over multiple services. You will assist with the day-to-day recovery of the residents and encourage them to live independently.  In return you will receive a competitive rate of pay £12.50 - £13.50 per hour (depending on experience). You can work hours that fit around your personal circumstances, and potentially become a permanent member of the Response team in the future! Shifts available will include days, evenings, weekends and sleep-ins.

Overall job responsibility:

  • You will work as part of a team to provide a safe and comfortable environment for our clients to live.
  • Assist clients with tasks such as cleaning, shopping, budgeting, and household tasks that promote their independence.
  • Support clients to achieve their personal goals, including their physical health, relationship building and managing their mental health. 
  • Identify and help facilitate appropriate move-on plans and accommodation that support and actively engage the resident, their family/ carer and external agencies in preparation for the transition according to the wishes of the resident.
  • Support the safe administration of medication in line with the policy and the residents support plan. Work in line with the company’s adult protection and prevention of abuse (where applicable). No resident will receive support with their medication until the employee has completed full training.
  • Update and assist clients in the progress of their personal support plans.
  • Promote a duty of care, safeguard and protect residents by working with the resident on an individual basis in order to outline their strengths and weaknesses, while following all policies and procedures in place ensuring all mandatory training is completed
  • Comply with all health and safety measures to keep residents, visitors, colleagues and yourself safe by conducting regular checks within all areas and departments required.
  • Responsible for monitoring the residents’ condition, ensuring that any changes to their mental or physical health are communicated to the Shift Lead/ Patch Area Manager and appropriate external agencies, which may include their carer.
  • Introduce clients to leisure activities, new interests, education or volunteering and support them to attend events or appointments.

  • Ability to work safely and responsibly without direct supervision with residents, and on your own.
  • Care for others and support them in challenging times. Perhaps you have done this in your personal life for friends or family.  
  • Work calmly and methodically, with organisational, written and verbal skills.
  • Have respect for difference and diversity.
  • IT literate with experience using MS Office packages.
  • Current, valid and full drivers’ licence with access to a road worthy vehicle

You will receive the training and confidence to use core therapeutic talk therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Strength-based Trauma Informed Care and Mutual Aid to provide the best possible support to our clients
