Principal Platform Engineer

Department: Information Security Operations

Reports To: Platform and Application Security Manager

Job Type: Full-Time

Job Overview: As a Principal Platform Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining the core infrastructure and platforms that power our products and services. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, DevOps engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders, to ensure that our platforms are reliable, scalable, and secure. Your expertise will be crucial in shaping the technical direction of our platform architecture and driving innovation across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Platform Architecture & Design:

    • Lead the design and development of scalable, reliable, and secure platform solutions.
    • Architect and implement cloud-based infrastructure using best practices in AWS, Azure, GCP, or other cloud providers.
    • Define and document technical standards, guidelines, and best practices for platform development.
  2. Technical Leadership:

    • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams.
    • Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the engineering team.
  3. Collaboration & Communication:

    • Work closely with product managers to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
    • Collaborate with DevOps teams to ensure smooth deployment and operation of platform services.
    • Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  4. Performance Optimization:

    • Monitor and optimize the performance, reliability, and scalability of platform services.
    • Identify and address performance bottlenecks and system inefficiencies.
  5. Security & Compliance:

    • Implement security best practices to protect platform services and data.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.
  6. Innovation & Research:

    • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends.
    • Evaluate and recommend new tools, technologies, and processes to improve the platform.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps or platform engineering roles.
  • Experience with GitHub, CircleCI, AWS, CloudFormation, IaC tooling.
  • Solid understanding of AWS and the ability to leverage AWS toolsets effectively.
  • Hands-on experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, including Amazon EKS and ECS.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying security best practices in a DevOps environment.
  • Experience in the fintech industry is highly desirable.
