Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Sociology Teacher to join our dynamic Humanities Department for a temporary maternity cover from September 2024 to January 2025. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality Sociology education to Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 students, inspiring them to engage critically with the subject matter and excel in their studies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Sociology lessons in accordance with the national curriculum and examination board requirements.
- Create a stimulating learning environment that encourages student participation and fosters a passion for Sociology.
- Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students, providing regular feedback to students and parents.
- Develop and implement effective teaching strategies that cater to the diverse learning needs of students.
- Participate in departmental meetings, parent consultations, and professional development activities.
- Maintain high standards of classroom management and discipline in accordance with school policies.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and share best practices and resources.
Person Specification:
Essential:
- A degree in Sociology or a related field.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Proven experience teaching Sociology at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 levels.
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for Sociology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students to achieve their best.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable:
- Experience in using innovative teaching methods and integrating technology into the classroom.
- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within a secondary school setting.
- Familiarity with the current curriculum and examination specifications for Sociology.
