Head of Training & Development – Technical - Building Control Hybrid Working Permanent Salary Dependent on Experience + Benefits

The Client

Our client one of the leading Approved Inspectors offer building control service which are tailored to client requirements. Our client can provide solutions when you want them, where you want them, from design phase to completion. Building compliance, safety, training and education has been at the heart of what our client does since we were founded in 2005

The Role

Responsible for designing, implementing and leading the development of training courses, programs, qualifications and coordination of the groups’ technical training capability and academy. You will play an integral role in developing the learning culture that the group aspires to create for all employees and clients.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Review, improve and implement the existing technical training programme/s for relevant disciplines fire engineering/safety building control compliance, warranty and assessment for the group and its clients. Assess effectiveness through measurement and redevelop into a consistent approach
  • Develop a training and competence framework for all levels of RBI (from Trainee Level 1 to Senior RBI Level 4)
  • Develop a training programme for those with relative experience (construction/engineering/architecture) who would like to transfer into Building Control, Fire Safety, Warranty, Advisory or other Technical role
  • Develop a strategy for the technical arm of plan to implement??
  • Assist in development of broader Training Academy, to promote a Learning Culture across the business
  • Develop a relevant network and promote building safety and compliance as an attractive career opportunity for young talent in order to increase the number of Trainees/ Apprentices/ Graduates to join the group
  • Develop effective apprenticeship and graduate training programmes
  • Support and coach managers with trainees, as required. Identify, train and coordinate a network of Mentors across the group
  • Explore and establish as an accredited centre for relevant qualifications in our Group of companies
  • Assess budget implications for training annually and produce regular data analysis and reporting on training. Internal and External
  • Oversee Apprenticeship Programme for the company and Apprenticeship Levy
  • Work with HR to develop learning strategy and annual learning plan Deliver training, as required, and identify and manage suitable internal / external training providers
  • Other duties or responsibilities commensurate with the position and development of the role and the business, may reasonably be required.

Experience and Qualifications Required

  •  Significant technical experience in Building Control, Fire Safety and Warranty and in-depth knowledge of trainee development,, Passionate about learning
  • Able to build rapport and trust quickly with stakeholders 
  • Supporting and promoting the values and missions of the company as part of their day-to-day work.
  • Strong communication skills, including active listening and ability to adapt communication to different styles and people.
  • Engaging presentation and training style
  • Coaching style of working with trainees (coaching/mentoring experience desirable)
  • Excellent writing and training design skills
  • Able to organise self and coordinate others to achieve great results and meet deadlines
  • Able to think strategically and contribute to future planning
  • Able to analyse data and produce reports
