A well-established Main Contractor with a growing reputation in the market now require a Pre-Construction Project Manager to join their busy Pre-Construction team.


Duties of an Estimator      

  • Risk Management - Ensure projects are fully assessed from a risk management perspective and risk profiles shared with SLT and PMs to ensure risks are mitigated as far as possible and reviewed on a regular basis.
  • Commitment to Excellence: Meticulous attention to detail and a passion for delivering tenders of the highest quality.
  • Engagement with other departments to ensure appropriate review and sign off.
  • Develop the initial tender programme and Methodology alongside the Sector CM/PM.
  • Carry out regular reviews with the PMs to ensure that project programmes are aligned with any master programme developed, and with business expectations.            
  • To assist the Senior Contracts Management team and the Estimating team with producing Tender Programmes and Methodologies to support the Pre-Construction team with preparing quality tenders.
  • To advise on buildability and works sequencing as well as site organisation to maximise the efficiency and profitability of any tender.
  • To champion the company’s internal pre-construction process to ensure that seamless integration is achieved between sales, estimating and operations.
  • Taking ownership from cradle to grave of the operational element of the bid process and implementation of all necessary bid procedures and processes which will include providing all the necessary tender handover information to the delivery team to ensure a smooth and profitable transition.
  • Ensuring that all submissions are produced to the highest level.
  • Innovative Problem-Solving: Identify opportunities to optimise programme, reduce costs, and enhance value through innovative solutions.

It is essential or preferrable that you have the following experience, qualifications or skills;

  • Experience of working on projects up to a value of £10m covering a wide range of construction types but ideally, commercial projects, fit out/refurb, industrial with Tier 1 or Tier 2 contracting experience preferred.
  • Strong construction background.         
  • The ability to communicate with senior people / teams and work with multiple departments – Sales / Estimating / Commercial and sectors.
  • Effective Communication: Excellent communication skills to liaise with internal teams, clients, consultants, and contractors.
  • A proactive person, someone who is hands on, enjoys working to high standards, confident enough to challenge and develop existing methodologies,
  • Able to articulate our methodologies into words and put them on a page to clearly demonstrate to a client the understanding of the project. This will include marking up drawings and creating diagrams alongside the marketing team as necessary.
  • Proficient user of Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, Teams. Causeway and COINS experience an advantage.
