Position: Teaching Assistant

Location: Barking & Dagenham (near Dagenham Heathway Station)

Start Date: September 2024

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to work with a creative and imaginative Year 1 child with Autism. This role is perfect for someone who is patient, and eager to contribute to an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Located a short walk from Dagenham Heathway station, the primary school is easily accessible via public transport.

For this role, you will need to be available 5 days a week (Monday to Friday) between the hours of 8.30am and 3.30pm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to a Year 1 child with Autism, helping them to access the curriculum and develop social skills.
  • Implement individualised learning plans and adapt teaching methods to meet the child's unique needs.
  • Use creative strategies to engage and motivate the child, fostering a love for learning.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and specialists to ensure a holistic approach to the child's development.
  • Encourage positive interactions and support the child's emotional well-being.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with Autism or special educational needs is preferred.
  • A creative and flexible approach to teaching.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young learners.
