Our client is a leading Non-Food FMCG Distributor who is currently recruiting for a dynamic, WMS led Operations Planning Manager to manage the early shift at their state of the art site in Didcot, Oxfordshire on a Monday - Friday basis (1400hrs - 2200hrs).

Reporting into the Operations Director and with Direct Reports across the Planning team, you will be expected to lead the operational planning team and coordinate with all levels of the business to ensure our orders are released in conjunction with the daily requirements needed to fulfil customers demands, meeting despatch trailer pull out times, ensuring all client daily communications are responded to in a timely manner with resolution whilst delivering excellent customer service.

Key Accountabilities as Operations Planning Manager:

  • As the business expert, provide leadership and flow to all optional areas of the distribution centre from order release to despatched orders.
  • Coordinate and organise daily activities, such as management and site reporting. Including inbound supplier booking availability and conformance documentation.
  • Ensure the highest standards of housekeeping are maintained both physical and systemic.
  • Monitor team performance and provide coaching and feedback to improve productivity and job satisfaction.
  • Maintain open communication with clients to ensure their needs and expectations are met.
  • Maintain open communication and attend meetings with suppliers / partners to ensure best in class service.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to effectively manage all operations planning.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of all reporting activities, including PI, stock reporting, stock investigations and publisher queries.
  • Work collaboratively with other managers and departments to ensure smooth operations and effective customer service.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to increase efficiency and effectiveness the planning of operations output.
  • Deliver daily requirements to ensure we meet our invoicing times throughout a day.
  • Lead and co-ordinate all training for all team members at each operational area ensuring best practice is followed at all times. Ensure skills are up to date and fully utilised. Using our inhouse health, safety and training Hub.
  • Attend regular meetings and actively collaborate with all levels of the business including the Director of Operations to ensure daily objectives are delivered.
  • Lead and engage a team. Identify and nurture talent, effective performance management and creating an environment where others are engaged and empowered to deliver at their best. Working alongside individual operational management functions (departmental)
  • Active collaboration with the entire operations management team to achieve sustainable improvements in service, efficiency and cost reduction across the distribution centre. Acting as a senior member of the operations management team to role model desired company behaviours and strategic pillars for Despatch shift functions.

The Ideal Person for the Operations Planning Manager role:

  • Demonstration of delivering significant process improvements throughout all areas of an operation through analytical and strategic thinking.
  • First class systems and process knowledge
  • Extensive Knowledge of Blue Yonder and SAP applications.
  • Experience of relationship management with suppliers and partners building effective working relationships.
  • Experience of working directly with clients
  • Experience of making a technical contribution to systems or process related roadmaps (or able to demonstrate.)
  • Proven people management experience and leading multi-functional teams.
  • Decisive decision making and site leadership.
