Here's what you'll be doing
npower Business Solutions (nBS) is the E.ON UK Industrial and Commercial (I&C) pillar and a market leader in the B2B energy retail sector. I&C is a £7 billion revenue business serving c20,000 customers and approximately 200,000 meter points with a view to becoming the number one B2B energy supplier in the UK.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Compliance Assurance Lead to join our Regulation, Policy, Compliance and External Affairs team. For this role, you will be responsible for managing assurance audits across nBS in accordance with the I&C Regulatory Compliance Governance Framework. You will lead on the facilitation of assurance activity via self-assessments across the I&C pillar and direct assurance, to confirm adequate controls are in place and delivery of any agreed remediation plans to time and specification. This role will be based in Solihull, Leeds (or flexible), but offers a hybrid working approach where you will be working in the office (Solihull) at least 1 or 2 days per week.
Key responsibilities
- Work closely with the Operational teams, including Performance and Insight and Data, Digital and Change team to develop and assure compliance across all relevant nBS processes.
- Manage assurance via self-assessments, providing technical operational advice and guidance on completion, developing, and maintaining constructive relationships with stakeholders to support their decision making and performance improvements.
- Conduct full or risk-based sampling to validate assessment submissions.
- Support the business with the formulation of action plans to remediate any identified non-compliances and track activity completion.
- Interpret regulation, codes and obligations and translate into language that the business can easily digest to deliver compliance obligations.
- Review Obligation Source Documents ensuring new obligations are interpreted to fairly assess business against criteria requirements.
- Responsible for the production and maintenance of Compliance Assurance Reporting.
- Lead for nBS on portal data queries received and support wider business stakeholders with resolution and update as per the I&C Regulatory Compliance Governance Framework.
- Regularly review the Compliance Priority Risk (CPR) scores, ensuring the scoring and narrative across all categories is accurate and reflective of current position, challenging any amendments required with appropriate teams and escalating any identified risks.
What we need from you
- Experience within the UK Energy Industry, with comprehensive technical knowledge of industry standards and regulatory obligations.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence internal senior stakeholders to consider opportunities, risks and recommended solutions finding a balanced view between regulatory, commercial, customer and business impacts.
- Demonstratable experience of operating within a complex and rapidly changing market, understanding and interpreting key compliance requirements, including licence conditions, codes of practice and industry codes providing views of adherence to obligations.
- The ability to assess business impacts to non-compliance and associated risks to establish where risk acceptance can be considered.
- The ability to influence and gain buy-in at all levels enforcing strong compliance principles.
It would be great if you had
- ISO Auditor experience or an ISO Auditor Qualification.
