LOCATION: Kingston, Surrey

REQUIRED: At least 3 years’ experience as a Grounds Maintenance Team Leader/Supervisor. Full, manual driving license. IT literacy is essential.

HOURS PER WEEK: 40

SALARY: £33,000 per year

To supervise the Grounds Maintenance Operations on a high-profile, Royal Parks contract ensuring the provision of an effective high-specification service delivery.

This position involves directly liaising with The Royal Parks client as well as with associated stakeholders in an outdoor, public location with multiple security and sensitive public-facing duties.

The Contract Supervisor is responsible for the management of both permanent and seasonal teams of Grounds Maintenance and Cleansing Operatives.

This role requires the ability to work closely with existing management, but also work independently within a given remit. The Supervisor will prepare and schedule works across the weekend, reactively responding to ad-hoc requests from the Client.

The individual will also be responsible for implementing HR, Health and Safety as well as compliance procedures and practices. These include carrying out inductions, disciplinary investigations and compiling reports.

The teams under the Supervisor’s control consist of Operatives of varying skill levels and experience.

The Supervisor is expected to manage the teams effectively so as to ensure maintenance is carried out efficiently and in accordance with contract specifications.

Key tasks: 

· To create a positive impression and work to exceed expectations

· Presenting a polite and responsible attitude at all times

· To communicate politely and professionally

· Accurately report customer comments to Management

· To promote and ensure staff wear the correct, corporate clothing

· To ensure areas are well presented and all sites are kept clean and tidy

· Keep the team informed, listen to feedback and ask questions to ensure understanding

· To ensure documentation is filled in accurately and submitted in time

· To be efficient and organised, using timesheets, works control tick sheets, rotas and absence request forms

· To read, understand and work to the company’s Health & Safety policy, ensuring the correct use of PPE

· Ensure plant and equipment is used safely and only after suitable training has been given

· To report any potential health & safety issues to your Manger

· To understand the correct machinery items for the job and to understand the maintenance requirements of machinery

· Ensure appropriate checks and records are kept

· To show a rigorous concern for the security of company buildings, vehicles, machinery and materials
