Senior Civils Engineering Designer - Defence
£70 per hour, Inside IR35
13-month contract
Hybrid working - Plymouth

Astute's Nuclear/ Defence team are working with a leading company in the Defence sector to recruit for a Senior Engineering Designer to work on a 13-month contract.

Role Purpose: Assist and support the Design Manager in delivering project scope.

Key responsibilities include:

• Ensuring health and safety compliance.
• Managing risk assessments.
• Allocating tasks, checking drawings, and ensuring coordination.
• Providing technical assistance and selecting methods/tools.
• Preparing and producing drawings to ISO standards.
• Liaising with engineering colleagues and stakeholders.
• Resolving production and technical queries.
• Developing innovative design solutions.

Requirements:

• Knowledge of heavy civil engineering and building structure design, including seismic codes.
• Understanding of construction techniques.
• Skills in technical design development.
• Proficiency with engineering computer applications.
• Experience in a design subject area.
• Ability to resolve design issues and provide technical advice.
• High degree of technical autonomy.

Qualifications:

• HNC/HND (or equivalent) or experience in technical leadership.
• Experience in commercial or defence projects.
