Food Production Supervisor required for my well established client based in Loughborough 

Late shift, 3pm - 11pm

Job Summary:

The Food Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations in the food production department, ensuring that all products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

This role includes managing a team of production workers, coordinating with other departments, and maintaining compliance with food safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supervision and Leadership:

    * Supervise daily activities of the production team.
    * Train, mentor, and evaluate production staff to ensure adherence to company standards.
    * Schedule and allocate tasks to team members.
  2. Production Management:

    * Oversee the production process to ensure it is running efficiently.
    * Monitor production schedules to meet deadlines.
    * Ensure all equipment is functioning correctly and coordinate maintenance as needed.
    * Implement and monitor standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  3. Quality Control:

    * Ensure all products meet quality standards and specifications.
    * Implement quality control checks at various stages of production.
    * Address and resolve any production issues or quality defects promptly.
  4. Health and Safety:

    * Enforce strict adherence to health and safety regulations.
    * Conduct regular safety audits and inspections.
    * Ensure all staff are trained in and comply with health and safety protocols.
  5. Inventory and Supplies Management:

    * Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and finished products.
    * Coordinate with the procurement department to order necessary supplies.
    * Manage storage and organization of materials to prevent contamination and spoilage.
  6. Documentation and Reporting:

    *Maintain accurate records of production metrics, inventory, and employee performance.
    * Prepare and submit regular reports to the Production Manager.
    * Ensure all documentation complies with industry regulations and company policies.
  7. Continuous Improvement:

    * Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes.
    * Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in production technology.
    * Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the production team.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in food production or manufacturing.
    • Previous supervisory or managerial experience is highly desirable.
  • Skills:

    • Strong leadership and team management skills.
    • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
    • Knowledge of food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, FDA).
    • Proficiency in using production management software and tools.
    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working in cold & refrigerated areas.
  • Ability to lift and move materials as needed (up to 50 pounds).
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
