A well established and inspirational charity , based in Northampton , who support victims of Domestic Abuse , are looking for a Head of Programme.

This is a rare opportunity to join an organisation who make a real difference to peoples lives whilst having the opportunity to develop your career within the charity sector.

Due to some travel between sites and occasional unsociable hours the ideal candidate will drive and have access to your own vehicle.

This is a Christian charity , therefore an active commitment to the Christian ethos and foundations of the organisation is a must.

RESPONSIBLE FOR:  The Head of Programmes will be responsible for the continued development, monitoring, assessment, maintenance and review of the framework, content and outcomes of all programmes (services, activities and interventions) delivered to all service users of NVCFR.  They will identify appropriate intervention models to support women and children who have been/are subjected to domestic abuse and people who use violent or coercive behaviours. They will assess the effectiveness of specific interventions and the overall service/programme to ensure that it continues to meet the complex needs of our service users and enables and empowers them to achieve lasting change through the outcomes of the programmes we use.  In addition, the Head of Programmes will work to identify and develop new markets for products and services developed by our client.

WORKING ARRANGEMENTS:   The Head of Programmes is required to work flexibly 37 hours per week. Some unsocial/out of hours/evening work will be required, including the provision of Managerial On Call Buddy support to the out of hours team on a rota basis.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POST: To oversee the development and delivery of all services, activities and interventions provided to all clients , including content, monitoring, assessment and review.  To oversee, develop and delivery of group work programmes as part of the overall delivery. To oversee monitoring and evaluation of outputs and outcomes for programmes and ensure that these are captured effectively.  To identify and develop new markets for products and services developed by the charity.

The Head of Programmes will work closely with other members of the Leadership team to ensure appropriate delivery and other resources are in place.  

PERSON SPECIFICATION

KNOWLEDGE:  Essential

Management level qualifications in Business, Operations Management or related field

Management level Qualifications in programme/project management.

Current awareness of national and local domestic abuse policy and responses.

Knowledge and understanding of therapeutic, educational and wellbeing models and opportunities relevant to the needs of victims and survivors of domestic abuse, generational abusive relationships and complex issues which attend those who find it difficult to maintain safe relationships.

Understanding of safeguarding issues and the legal responsibilities surrounding these.

Understanding of the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic abuse and their children.

Understanding and commitment to equal opportunities and diversity issues in policy and practise

Desirable

Extensive knowledge and training or a qualification in domestic abuse, with an understanding of the impact of domestic abuse on victims and their children

Knowledge and understanding of Domestic Violence Perpetrator Programme/Behaviour Change Programmes.

Knowledge of local specialist services.

Knowledge of civil and criminal law affecting victims of domestic abuse and their children.

EXPERIENCE:  Essential

Extensive experience of working with and providing services to women and children who have been/are victims of domestic abuse in Refuge and/or Community based programmes

Working with vulnerable adults and children, including those with complex needs such as drug misuse, mental health issues, learning difficulties, English as a second language

Facilitating/delivering group work and related training/monitoring supervision and assessment for delivery staff

Desirable

Developing new resources and programmes and identification of new markets for these products and services

SKILLS:  Essential

Strong Leadership skills.

Ability to motivate staff and volunteers with their personal drive and energy.

Excellent communication, negotiation and advisory skills, both written and verbal.

Excellent Interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships with a variety of people from beneficiaries and staff members to senior corporate executives and opinion formers.

Excellent coaching skills to be able to develop staff team.

Knowledge of organisational effectiveness and operations management.

Ability to manage own workload, and use initiative, with outstanding administrative, computer literacy, prioritisation and organisational skills.

Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively as an effective team member.

Risk management mindset.

Be in possession of a valid driving licence and have a car that is available for your exclusive use during working hours
