JRRL are looking for an HR Advisor with CIPD Level 5 and 5+ years’ experience in an HR advisory position for a company based in the heart of Bromley.

The role provides an HR advisory service to management and colleagues. The job holder will be the first point of contact for employee relations, employment law and employee wellbeing matters.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Provide expert, timely and consistent employee relations advice, support and guidance across the full range of employee relations issues including conduct, grievance, flexible working, performance and absence management.
  • Produce letters in relation to employee relations cases, such as invite and outcome letters.
  • To support and coach managers with investigations which can sometimes be complex in their nature, and the completion of all associated documentation.
  • To support and coach managers in preparation for formal meetings and support at formal meetings.
  • Proactively identify colleagues who have reached the sickness absence trigger and provide support to the manager.
  • Support managers to manage short-term and long-term sickness absence, including attending sickness absence meetings and making referrals to Occupational Health.
  • Review LTS cases and submit proposal to HR Business Partner and Head of HR for approval.
  • Educate managers on employee wellbeing, managing remote teams, mental health and promote the Employee Assistance Service.
  • Advise and support managers and colleagues on family leave related matters, including the preparation of letters and any associated documentation.
  • Respond to queries from colleagues on HR matters as appropriate.
  • Update HRM system as required and use to gather data.
  • Carry out HR induction meetings up to Manager level and present the HR section at the corporate induction as required.
  • Support and advise on change management processes as required, including preparation of documents for such processes and attending meetings.
  • Carry out exit interviews in person or by MS Teams.
  • Undertake DSE workstation assessments and follow up on recommendations.
  • Attend interviews when required.
  • Write and review HR Policies assigned by HR management.
  • Complete HR project tasks to agreed timescale.
  • Cover for the HR Business Partner in their absence.
  • Perform any other duties as reasonably required.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • CIPD level 5, with 5 years’ experience in a HR advisory position.
  • Is working towards/willing to study for CIPD level 7.
  • Strong employment law knowledge.
  • In depth experience of complex employee relations cases.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgement when dealing with employee relations cases.
  • Sound knowledge of GDPR principles; understanding of relevance to HR disciplines.
  • Good decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, able to build rapport with managers.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organisation skills and able to prioritise a varied workload to meet deadlines.
  • Remains calm and professional in challenging situations.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality.
