We are recruiting for a BREEAM Assessment Specialist/Sustainability Specialist to join a High Speed Rail Organisation. You will have the responsibility for developing our sustainability assessment strategy (primarily BREEAM Buildings and BREEAM Infrastructure).
This includes setting targets and requirements and embedding them into contracts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and support the sustainability assessment strategy for High Speed Rail Projects, including stations, depots, other railway buildings, and infrastructure works.
  • Undertake BREEAM Buildings and BREEAM Infrastructure pre-assessments.
  • Act as the sustainability champion (including BREEAM AP and BREEAM Infrastructure Projects Assessor) for the entire project to ensure performance targets are on track and embedded into contracts.
  • Work closely with delivery teams in Phase One to ensure that BREEAM Buildings and BREEAM Infrastructure requirements are implemented.
Skills and Experience:

  • Essential experience in managing and implementing BREEAM Buildings and/or BREEAM Infrastructure (formerly CEEQUAL) in large, complex, and/or major development/infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in stakeholder management, including external stakeholders such as the Building Research Establishment.
  • Strong communication skills, including report preparation, presentation skills, and the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in a lead role as a BREEAM assessor and BREEAM AP and/or BREEAM Infrastructure Projects Assessor/Verifier.
Knowledge:
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of BREEAM Buildings and BREEAM Infrastructure (formerly CEEQUAL) assessments.
  • Strong understanding of environmental and sustainability principles and their relationship to achieving sustainable outcomes.
  • Familiarity with UK planning policies and building legislation requirements.
