The Opportunity
Given increased Project trajectories, our client is currently seeking an experienced Construction Delivery Lead to join their Construction Delivery Group who form part of a fully integrated Site Construction Directorate, with the objectives to facilitate the planning and delivery of the HPC Project as Principal Contractor, meeting the safety, quality, cost, and schedule objectives for the Project.

The role
As the Construction Delivery Lead, you will be responsible for the delivery, co-ordination, and management of a designated section of the Works. These areas, which will be associated with specific Contracts, will predominately be in the Nuclear Island (NI) of Unit 1 & 2. The NI is split up into N1 (HR/HK Buildings), N2 (HL Buildings) & N3 (HQ, HN, HD, and others). These allocated areas will be subject to change as and when required to enable an “Agile” approach to the distribution of PC duties, throughout the NI on HPC.  

The specific Contracts allocated to a Construction Delivery Lead, will be linked to a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and will be led by a Senior Project Manager, who has the overall accountability to deliver the project.

This responsibility extends to all construction and related activities including surveillance, logistics, planning and implementation in collaboration with the site wide logistics team, commercial management, reporting both internally and externally, programming and planning, monitoring and close out of authorities’ obligations and conditions, client liaison, and staff management. 

Your duties and responsibilities will be
  • Manage and develop their Construction Delivery Managers, to ensure they have a good understanding of site activities and can carry out their role accordingly. Offer support and guidance, along with ensuring that all appropriate training for a CDM is undertaken.
  • As the Construction Delivery Lead, you will be required to liaise closely with the MDT and lead the Construction delivery role within it. 
  • Fulfils Line Management responsibilities to Construction Delivery Managers.
  • Oversee all aspects of Health Safety and Environment during construction activities in their allocated area(s), in accordance with the NNB HPC Construction Phase Plan.
  • Undertake and record safety and/or assurance inspections that support the project KPI’s. The tool at HPC for this is INSIGHT.
  • Construction Delivery Lead shares the Construction Delivery Manager’s responsibilities depending on work area and scope complexity. When nominated by the SCDM, undertakes role of Construction Delivery Manager for specific areas as and when required.
  • Ensures that the HPC Drumbeat for the series of Daily and Weekly Meetings is understood and carried out by CDM’s.
  • Organise and conduct Weekly planning meetings called Plan of the Week (PLOW’s) with the Contractor Partners, to ensure that the coordination and short-term planning is in line with the overall delivery schedule and outputs are recorded and issues escalated. 
You will have the following experience and qualifications
  • Management of strategic planning of site set up, construction sequencing, recovery plans and resource allocation.
  • Good working knowledge of commercial principles affecting construction matters.
  • Ability to produce informative, concise reports.
  • You must have experience in delivering large and complex projects under similar constraints. 
  • Motivational approach and the ability to energise team members by building a climate of trust and understanding.
  • Considerable working knowledge in the delivery of large complex projects
  • Relevant Degree (or equivalent) in either Civil Construction.Working understanding of the postholder’s obligations under CDM Regulations.
  • NEBOSH, SMSTS or IOSH qualification holder.
