Salary: £84 - £95 per day

Timeplan is currently working with a large SEND Trust in Southwark, who are recruiting several specialist Teaching Assistants to start in September 2024. All positions are full time on timesheets, via the agency in the first instance with the opportunity to secure a permanent contract for the right candidates. Working hours are 8.20am - 3.45pm Tuesday to Friday. Each Monday staff are required to work until 4.45pm to accommodate training.

The school is located across 2 sites, catering for 200 pupils aged 5-19 years old, with EHCPs for ASD and Aspergers Syndrome. As well as offering students an engaging curriculum, they also work hard to develop communication and social skills. The school is in a state-of-the-art building, offering a wealth of resources to both students and pupils.

Shortlisted candidates must have previous SEND experience, especially with Autism and complex needs. Your experience will ideally be in a professional capacity; however, they will consider candidates who have personal experience with SEND. As a Teaching Assistant you will be working in a class of 4-9 pupils providing 1:1 and whole class support. Classes are generally formed based on age groups, however there will be varying abilities, with some students being non-verbal. A working knowledge of PECs and Makaton is desirable. Regardless of which class you are placed in, all staff must be prepared to complete personal care. Successful applicants are caring, calm and pro-active with a keen interest in SEND.

For the right person, the school will offer excellent pay rates, the opportunity to apply for a permanent role and a state-of-the-art working environment.

Key skills and experience needed:

  • Experience supporting children with ASD and complex needs.
  • Previous support work within a school or other child related experience
  • One to one and small group work
  • Professional manor
  • Enthusiasm and friendly approach

If you are looking for a rewarding role in SEND and want to make difference, we want to hear from you!
