Position: Lead English Teacher, SEN
Location: Lancashire, near Leyland
Salary: M1 - UPS2 plus an additional Expert payment of £1,500 per annum
Hours: 40 hours per week – Term Time Only

Start Date: September 2024

This SEN Group is a pioneering provider of education and care for children, young people, and adults with special educational needs and disabilities. The School, located in Lancashire, is an independent day school offering specialist education for young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties.

They are seeking a dynamic Lead English Teacher to join their team. This role encompasses English, Literacy, Phonics, and Careers Education Information, Advice & Guidance (CEIAG).

Key Responsibilities:

In addition to standard SEN teaching duties, you will:

Lead and Organise: Coordinate English instruction across the entire school.
Manage and Assess: Oversee relevant approaches and subject information, including assessment of progress in English, literacy, and phonics.
Coordinate Interventions: Ensure literacy and phonics interventions are delivered and tracked effectively.
Develop Curriculum: Enhance English as a core component of the academic curriculum, aiming to improve progress and outcomes for all pupils.
Staff Training: Provide training to staff as needed.
Progress Reporting: Supply relevant progress and teaching/learning quality information to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
Careers Officer: Act as the Careers Officer, ensuring compliance with the Gatsby Benchmarks.

Qualifications:

Essential:

PGCE, QTS, Cert Ed, or equivalent teaching qualification with evidence of in-service training.
Relevant knowledge and experience working with pupils with SEN, SLD/PMLD, and ASD.
Understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures.
Experience managing various approaches to behaviour, including handling challenging behaviours.

Desirable:
Experience successfully delivering a differentiated curriculum to students with a wide range of needs.
Experience working in a therapeutic environment.
