Behavior Support Worker

Location:  Darlington 

Position Type: Full-time/Temporary

AK Teaching are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Worker to join in supporting students within our partner schools. As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will work closely with students, teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement behaviour management strategies tailored to individual student needs. You will play a crucial role in creating a positive and safe learning environment that promotes student success and well-being.

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and other support staff to identify students in need of behaviour support.
  • Conduct assessments and observations to understand students’ behaviour patterns and needs.
  • Provide direct support and interventions to students experiencing behavioural challenges, both in classroom settings and other school environments.
  • Teach and reinforce positive behaviour skills through modeling, coaching, and encouragement.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on students’ progress and collaborate on behaviour management strategies.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development opportunities, and ongoing training related to behaviour support and student well-being.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to behaviour support services provided.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with children or adolescents in educational or behavioural support settings.
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management principles and strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to support the well-being and success of all students.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in responding to changing student needs and school environments.
  • Knowledge of special education laws and regulations (preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation (if required to travel between school sites).
