Male Support Worker - Southbourne
Posted a week ago by Autism Unlimited
We have an exciting opportunity for a male Support Worker to join our adult services programme based in Southbourne.
Aspire enables the people we support to live as independently as possible with privacy, freedom and social interaction. Each person we support has their own tenancy agreement and they are responsible for the entailments of this. Our role is to support each person into a more independent style of living.
To be considered for this role, you will need to have a Full UK driving licence, however access to your own vehicle is not essential.
We support one resident called Jack who is in his late twenties and lives in his own self-contained flat. Jack is in need of 1:1 additional support.
The role:
Jack is non speaking and uses various aids such as some sign and PECS and general gestures including pointing.
Peace and quiet and own space are incredibly important to Jack. He has a small staffing team who work 1:1 with him.
Jack has a variety of interests such as listening to rock music, cycling at Moors Valley Country Park, swimming in a quiet local pool, people watching and cheering on his local football team.
You could also be supporting with preparing food, laundry, weekly food shopping and elements of personal care.
This role would suit someone that has a warm but attentive nature, fit and able to be on their feet a lot of the time, and a passion to promoting independence for the people we support.
To support the services, shifts would be between the hours of 7am - 3pm, 3pm - 10pm and would include working alternate weekends and sleep ins (sleep ins come with an additional payment)
A support workers day would include:
- Sharing your skills and life knowledge with the people we support to enable good life skills and independence when living in the community
- Maintaining consistent and accurate records regarding care plans, finances, appointments and medication
- Following the support plan in plan for each person we support to enable the person to feel comfortable and happy, adapting this as required based on change in behaviour
