The Commercial Trainer in Gas role:

Are you looking for a flexible role that will enable you to share your industry expertise with our dedicated adult students and help them achieve their Gas trade qualifications?

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assessor in Gas to work within our dedicated Commercial Services team to deliver upskilling training to our adult customers.

This is a flexible bank role which allows you to accept work assignments when convenient to you. Perhaps you are looking for that extra role in addition to your main job that enables you to give back to our adult students and help shape their future careers.

As a Trainer in Gas, you will train learners to awarding organisation standards, delivering the CCN1 (both Initial and Re-Assessment), Unvented Hot Water (both Initial and Re-Assessment) and Water Regulations.

Key Responsibilities of our Commercial Trainer in Gas :

  • Supporting the learners’ development of vocational competence and the wider skills that relate to employability.
  • Training and/or assessing learners within the relevant vocational area to awarding organisation standards in a timely manner.
  • Applying relevant initial and diagnostic assessment to individualised training plans.
  • Agreeing a training programme of development and assessment in partnership with the employer, setting realistic but challenging goals that meet the learners’ and employers’ needs, and include on and off the job training where required.
  • Actively listening, providing feedback and engaging learners in planning their individualised training programme through coaching and mentoring; supporting the delivery and acheivement of additional qualifications as required.
  • Assessing learners’ competence in relation to work-related/industry standards.
  • Providing workbased practice of the assessment instruments in the EPA where required, give timely and constructive feedback on assessment outcomes and progress, review and set new targets with candidates.
  • Completing relevant documentation in an accurate and organised manner, ensuring candidates are monitored and assessed against awarding body standards.
  • Meeting regularly with relevant curriculum and pastoral staff to ensure candidate progress is updated.

Our ideal Commercial Trainer in Gas should have the below skills and experience:

  • Level 2 in literacy and numeracy
  • Level 3 or above Plumbing & Gas qualification
  • Level 3 Assessor Award (TAQA or equivalent)
  • Level 3 Teaching Award in Education
  • Coaching and/or Mentoring award
  • Relevant and recent vocational experience in the relevant industry sector
  • Working knowledge of the relevant vocational area
  • The ability to communicate to a diverse range of people at all levels, verbally and in writing
