Job Title: Quantity Surveyor

Salary: £65,000 + £5,000 Car Allowance

Our client are a leading company in the social housing sector, committed to delivering high-quality refurbishment projects that transform communities, they work on housing, education and a range of local authority refurbishment projects across London and the Home Counties. They have been established for over 50 years and built themselves an excellent reputation in this space. 

Role Overview:

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of our social housing refurbishment projects from procurement through to final accounts. Ideal candidates will be commercial aware and be competent with working with the construction and technical teams across the business. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and financial reports for social housing refurbishment projects.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, cost control, and value engineering to optimize project costs.
  • Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to negotiate contracts and agreements.
  • Monitor project progress and financial performance, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Manage project variations, claims, and disputes effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, quality standards, and client specifications.
  • Provide expert advice on contract conditions, procurement strategies, and risk management.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to achieve project goals.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry, preferably with a focus on social housing projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement processes, and cost management.
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in using industry-standard software and tools for cost estimation and project management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Full UK driving license.
