Purpose of the role
Inspection, repair and maintenance of all makes and types of LGV vehicles/trailers/vans and cars
Observing the guidelines as stated in VOSA’s guide to maintaining roadworthiness and testers manuals as well as vehicle manufacturer manuals.
Key accountabilities
Ensuring company vehicles are serviced, maintained and vehicles defects are repaired in a cost effective safe manner.
Prepare and present vehicles for annual MOT
Work in a safe manner following all Health and Safety regulations
Maintaining workshop equipment within his/her capabilities
Following all IMS procedures relating to his/her own work activities
Liaising with Team Leaders/drivers and other departments as required
To work as an integral part of the Workshop Team to ensure that work is carried out as efficiently as possible.
Attending vehicles breakdowns and accidents
To ensure that all vehicle documentation administration is completed correctly and on time.
To attend training courses as and when required. I.e. renewal of licences and updating of knowledge.
Compliance
knowledge of transport legislation
ability to work as part of a team
computer literate i.e. internet and intranet. Knowledge SAP would be an advantage.
ability to use vehicle diagnostic equipment.
flexible and committed approach to Shift working.
ability to prioritise and made decisions.
time management
The role holder is expected:
To comply with all aspects of the Heidelberg Materials Compliance Policy.
To ensure that all the business/operations are performed in accordance with instructions and procedures and in such a way so as to prevent any fraudulent activities taking place.
To comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and to observe the requirements of the Company Safety Policy and other relevant legislation.
To proactively manage health & safety of employees to continuously improve the company's health & safety performance.
To update all areas of knowledge as required to carry out the job with maximum effectiveness and to attend training/development courses as and when required.
To comply will all aspects of the HR Policies and Procedures of the Company.
Education/Qualification
Current LGV Licence
Time served apprenticeship in LGV Maintenance
NVQ level 3 minimum
