GMP Recruitment are proud to be partnered with a well know, growing engineering firm located in Kidderminster. We are actively recruiting a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team on a full time, permanent contract.

This position can offer up to £40K and an immediate start can be available for the right candidate.

As Mechanical Design Engineer, you will support the Engineering Department through delivery of an efficient and effective service in the following areas of steel, factored products, and flex: Concept Design, Engineering Projects, Engineering Drawings & Documentation, Estimating, Process Improvement, Operational support and Communication with both internal and external customers.

To be considered we are looking for candidates to demonstrate a minimum of 3-4 years’ experience in a similar engineering environment.

Main duties:

• To evaluate customer requirements from initial enquiry, deliver designs suitable for manufacture whist meeting customer specification.
• Provide sound technical solutions to engineering problems, ability to identify alternative design recommendations.
• Creation of detailed drawings for manufacture and assembly, have knowledge of welding principals and geometric tolerancing.
• Determine product bills of material and maintain within the Companies ERP system liaising with purchasing.
• Provide hands on support and guidance during the introduction of both new and current products in manufacturing;
• Design reviews are undertaken, lessons learnt captured, documented, and communicated both internally and externally.
• Support both internal and external customers through good communication and technical data;

Required skills and experience:

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar engineering environment
• Competence in project ownership, problem solving, planning and decision making
• Solidworks / Sheet Metal Design or Similar
• Essential: Knowledge of metal fabrication
• Understanding and ability to work in an SME
• Ability to communicate with employees at all levels of the business
