Operations Engineer – CCGT

Are you passionate about power generation and engineering? We’re seeking an Operations Engineer to lead critical activities at our clients cutting-edge CCGT Power station. Your role will involve ensuring safe, reliable plant operation while meeting operational and commercial goals.

What You’ll Do:

  • Coordinate Plant Operations: You’ll be responsible for managing plant shutdowns, start-ups, and daily operations. Whether it’s responding to National Grid instructions or ensuring compliance with O&M procedures, your expertise will keep the plant running smoothly.
  • Safety First: Prioritise health, safety, and environmental compliance. Familiarity with Environmental Permits is essential.
  • Mentor and Supervise: As an Operations Engineer, you’ll guide and support Operations Technicians, sharing your knowledge and expertise.
  • Advanced Systems: Utilise their computerised Plant Management System for Shift Logs, Fault Notifications, Work Orders, and more.
  • Collaborate with External Partners: Liaise with external customers for power and gas supply and distribution.
  • Support Initiatives: Be part of our Asset Management, Risk-Based Culture, and Change Management efforts.

Requirements:

  • Education: Preferably educated to a minimum level of HNC or equivalent in engineering.
  • Operational Experience: Ideally within the Power Generation sector.
  • Safety Focus: Appreciation of H&S management processes and procedures, along with a Health and Safety qualification (NEBOSH or equivalent).
  • Technical Know-How: Strong practical engineering skills, including logic-based control systems.
  • Problem-Solving: Advanced problem-solving abilities are crucial.
  • Power Plant Expertise: Understand power plant principles, performance, efficiency, and environmental restrictions.
  • Self-Motivated: Prioritise workload effectively.
  • Leadership: Deputise for the Operations Manager when needed.
  • Team Player: Support other areas of the business onshore and offshore.
