Hours Of Work - 36 Hours a Week (Early Finish Friday)

Our client offers a complete printing and packaging service as a one stop shop for a variety of markets. They are currently looking to recruit a Health, Safety & Environmental Manager to join their team.

The successful candidate will be working with all staff to apply a systematic and practical approach utilising checks, instructions, training, maintenance of records and liaison with relevant organisations.

Responsibilities:

  • Resolve Health & Safety and Environmental issues in line with HSE policies and procedures
  • Develop Safety Strategies for the prevention of workplace accidents, including Risk Assessments, and carry out investigations of all incidents to put in place preventive measures and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Regularly inspect, monitor and assess all departmental Health & Safety and Environmental aspects and implement control measures to reduce risks
  • Carry out induction and coordinate other health, safety and environmental training, maintaining up to date Safety & Environmental training records
  • Advise on legal compliance and lead HSE meetings, providing reports, statistics and any legislation updates
  • Maintain an up-to-date Health & Safety and Environmental legal register
  • Maintain an up-to-date analysis of Safety & Environmental aspects of processes.
  • Calculate the company Carbon Footprint
  • Implement an ISO14001 certified Environmental Management system
  • leading third party audit inspections related to this
  • Carrying out Internal Auditing including Environmental Auditing
  • Collate Packaging Waste data and liaise with the Environmental Compliance Advisor
  • Maintain all aspects of fire safety including testing and management of alarm systems
  • Support Engineering in the safe introduction of new machinery and equipment
  • Ensure provision of correct PPE
  • Analyse data for best recycling and disposal activities
  • Any other reasonable duty required

Requirements:

  • A good understanding of Health & Safety and Environmental requirements and legislation
  • A good understanding of Risk Assessment techniques & COSHH management
  • Confident knowledge of how to investigate Accidents & incidents
  • A proven background in successfully managing relevant improvements
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Health & Safety training to at least IOSHH Managing Safely level
  • Ideally have experience of implementing ISO14001 system
  • IT literate
