Wentworth James Group has engaged with a key client and a world leading Manufacturer of Food Process Equipment & Packaging Machinery. The business is a full turnkey solution to the food industry including Design, Manufacture, Install, Commission & Service of special purpose machines. Due to an internal promotion, we are seeking an experienced Project Manager who has a background in Engineering &/or Manufacturing.

Ideally you will have a background in Engineering, Manufacturing & Health & Safety (H&S)

Commutable from Birmingham, Dudley, Solihull, Sutton Coldfield, Kidderminster, Redditch, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Lichfield, Tamworth, Stafford, Coventry, Warwickshire etc. 

Job Summary

To deliver the company’s projects / contractual obligations in accordance with customer requirements on time and to budget. Manage customer’s expectations and liaise with internal department managers to update / communicate project information.

Key Responsibilities

  • To assist sales staff in finalizing project scope and help with costs for 3rd party equipment / services Visit site to understand customer requirements and liaise with the sales layout department to finalise a proposed layout for tender.
  • Support with specialist areas of costing regards project specific items.
  • Generate and communicate an achievable timeline (Gant Chart MS projects) in coordination with all departments and in line with customer expectation.
  • Liaise with the customer to agree the final layout proposal and customer ‘sign off’.
  • Manage handovers internally for those projects to which you are allocated. Ensure an agreed project layout which can proceed into production. Be involved with specifying / ordering bought out equipment. Ensure the order acknowledgement is correct and contractually compliant
  • Ensure internal and external orders are placed for all equipment within the contract scope of supply.
  • Work with the engineering department to ensure that part numbers for all TBA items are allocated for the ordering process. This will be aligned with the overall project schedule to maintain the delivery schedule
  • To agree achievable milestones with all depts (including sales) and the customer. Produce and distribute a programme and monitor departmental performance.
  • Act on any delays to the project schedule and report weekly or fortnightly to the customer on progress.
  • Maintain customer contact at every phase of the project and communicate any risks / changes with the business department heads.
  • Monitor costs throughout the project and flag areas where overruns are threatened. Manage change orders.
  • Liaise with accounts updating the department of your project status, delivery / installation and completion with ref to invoicing customer stage payments in a timely manner.
  • Establish and manage a project through it life cycle to the satisfactory completion of the contract to achieve customer sign off.
  • Coordinate all internal / external resource scheduling to meet contract delivery objectives.
  • Attend site reviews with the customer and meet with local contractors to establish the scope if required. Agree with customer local contractor fundamentals such as access points, equipment laydown areas, power points, amenities and integration with local factory employees.
  • Nominate contractors for the installation and raise orders. Discuss and confirm plant requirements and raise orders.
  • Produce meeting minutes to communicate and update to the customer and the business.
  • Ensure that the project undertaken will meet the customer’s requirements
  • Ensure the correctness and completeness of all contract associated orders
  • Ensure conclusion of the contract within the pre-allocated time frame arranging equipment commissioning / manage any outstanding snagging and gain sign off for acceptance from the customer.

Sound knowledge of Auto CAD

Commercial acumen

Computer literacy in MS Word & Excel
