This contract with our central government client is for a Data Maturity Assessment Lead for 9 months in Bristol / Hybrid - minimum 2 days per week in the office.  

Additional Locations: London, Manchester.

The Data Management Team supports the foundation work through rolling out the enterprise data catalogue across the department and improving data governance practices through setting frameworks and standards.  

As part of the data management team the data maturity assessment has been introduced by the government to help public sector organisations to measure, improve and maintain the health and strength of their data ecosystems.  

In the first year our client aims to use the data maturity assessment for government and its framework to carry out a self assessment using the 10 topics, intersected six themes against the 4 maturity levels.  

Responsibilities:  

- Carry out the government data maturity assessment using the framework.  

- Communicating effectively with stakeholders to assess maturity through interviews, workshops and questionnaires.  

- Work with stakeholders to define, maintain, and support the outputs from the maturity assessment  

- Identify all relevant stakeholders, business and technical, from all levels.  

- Engaging with stakeholders to obtain observations, recommendations, opinions, and benchmarking across different areas to determine level of maturity against the assessment/framework.  

- Facilitating workshops and focus groups, with executive teams and senior leadership to align with organisational goals and stakeholder needs.  

- Create current state assessment documents and develop future state recommendations, including gap analysis between current state and future state.  

- Analysis of the assessment findings with a recommendation for potential improvements that can be made.  

Requirements:

- A data expert with experience and knowledge of carrying out data maturity assessments.  

- An articulate speaker able to facilitate discussions and workshops.  

- Someone with excellent organisation skills.  

- Carrying out interviews with stakeholders to ascertain current problems against the assessment.  

- 1-2 years experience and knowledge of carrying out maturity assessment, ideally in the public sector.  

- Passionate and knowledgeable about data.  

- Ability to accurately handle multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.  

- Strong analytical skills, able to drill to detail when problem solving.  

- Experience defining critical success factors and monitoring progress.  

- Strong strategic thinking and ability to analyse and interpret data.  

It’s desirable that you have:  

- Experience of working with the government data maturity assessment.  

- Familiarity of the public sector and government processes.
