Reports to: Operations Manager and Contracts Manager

Hours: 42.5-45 hours per week 7.00am – 5.00pm   

Salary: 35K-40K per annum depending on experience

Must have UK Driving Licence

 

Goals and Objectives:

 

As a Supervisor you will help manage multiple projects from start through to completion. You will ensure that all works are completed on time, budget and to the highest of standards. You will have good communication skills and be able to negotiate with clients and all staff from site workers to directors, in a professional and fair manner. Health & Safety issues will be a top priority in this role. Supervisors will maintain an understanding of all company procedures and systems and consistently work towards continual improvement whilst assisting the business to achieve and maintain ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification and other future goals and accreditations.

 

Key Responsibilities to include but not limited to:

 

Projects (commercial & domestic):

  • Assist projects from pre-start through to completion, including defects period and retention release
  • Assist in the production of programme of works for projects including master programmes through to individual work task items.
  • Monitoring and overseeing the team leaders and their projects, this will include site visits.
  • Project management of the daily tasks required on the landscaping & fencing projects, including the installation of new features or designs. Follow plans and specifications to carry out tasks.
 

Site Management:

  • Advising and guiding site managers, subcontractors, designers and operatives with work on projects
  • Responsibility for agreeing extra works and helping to resolve any disputes which may arise by continual monitoring of subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Conduct on-site assessments to determine the appropriate type of works needed based on company or client requirements and site conditions. Measure and evaluate the area where the works will be installed.

Material Preparation:

  • Assist with material procurement in line with programmes
  • Gather and prepare materials required for the installation, setting out material in appropriate locations. Protect materials and adjacent areas to ensure clean & tidy workspace.
 

Fencing:

  • Install various types of fences such as timber, railings, chain-link and hoarding, depending on the project specifications. Dig and set posts in appropriate setting agent and ensure proper alignment and spacing.
  • Attach fence panels or fabric to posts, ensuring a secure and aesthetically pleasing installation.
  • Install gates and gate hardware. Other works could include decking, pergola and sleeper installation.
 

Hard landscape:

  • Install various types of paving, blockwork and path installation according to design and specification. Creating suitable subbase, appropriate compaction and working with different setting agents and mixes.
 

Soft Landscape:

  • Plant flowers, shrubs, trees, and other vegetation according to landscape designs and specifications. Prepare soils and ground conditions suitable for various finishes.
  • Maintain and care for plants, ensuring proper watering, fertilization, and pest control.
  • Monitor plant health and report any issues to supervisors.
Grounds Maintenance:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as mowing lawns, trimming hedges, and pruning trees.
  • Weed control and removal to maintain a clean and tidy appearance.
  • Clearing debris, leaves, and other materials to ensure a safe and attractive environment.
 

Equipment Operation:

  • Operate and maintain equipment in line with manufacturers guidelines and appropriate training, including pre-start and post-completion checks. Equipment can include different fuels / power sources and care should be taken to ensure appropriate use and maintenance.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions and perform basic repairs.
Safety and Compliance:

  • Highlighting any potential problems and proposing solutions to the project team as well as the design team, if required
  • Where required, carry out on site risk assessments for approval by site manager.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a secure working environment. Read, understand and comply/provide feedback with risk assessment & method statements including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Follow local regulations and environmental guidelines in the application of pesticides or herbicides.
Use of Company Vehicles and equipment:

It is the responsibility of all those using the company vehicles and equipment to keep them clean and tidy and well maintained as you would your own vehicle. Doing daily vehicle checks to ensure any issues are identified before the vehicle leaves the yard and following the correct procedure to ensure vehicles and equipment are kept in good, safe working order.

 

Documentation:

Keep Contracts Manager and Ops Manager informed of all site developments.

Feedback information to enable managers to deliver a strategic direction.

Keep accurate records of materials used, hours worked, and any issues encountered during the installation or repair process. Make sure our project management software is kept up to date with accurate information, and ensure RAMS are accurate and signed off.

 

Quality Control:

Issuing project related information to the design team, subcontractors, site manager, quantity surveyor, etc. and obtaining appropriate comments/approval as required

Ensure that all work meets quality standards and complies with relevant regulations and codes.

 

Adaptability:

Be adaptable to various weather conditions and work environments.

A Supervisor should possess good physical fitness, manual dexterity, and the ability to work outdoors in different conditions. Must be reliable and resilient.

 

Training:

Supervisors will be expected to engage in all learning opportunities available to them and encourage the lesser experienced to engage in all learning opportunities. Actively support apprentices and trainees in their skills and knowledge development.

 

Customer Interaction:

Interact with clients, property owners, or the public in a professional and courteous manner.

Address inquiries, provide information, and ensure customer satisfaction. Represent the company at all times in a positive and professional way.

Attend site collaboration/progress/update meetings on behalf of the company
