As the demand for intelligent, low energy and cost effective MEP services continues to grow, the Leeds office has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their experienced and talented Building Services Engineering Team. Joining an office with over 60 staff covering a wide range of disciplines in property and construction, you will be part of a Building Services team that are delivering innovative solutions for our wide range of public and private sector clients across education, healthcare, residential, commercial, retail and leisure.

As the Senior Electrical Design Engineer you will be exposed to multiple sectors and many cultures. Building Services Engineers advise, design, monitor and survey the M&E services that are needed to allow the building to do what it's designed to. These services include, resilience, lighting, power, back-up power generators, statutory compliance, heating, safety and security.

Responsibilities:

  • Working as part of a design team delivering design from feasibility to completion and handover
  • Liaising closely with other professionals, including, clients, structural engineers, architects, surveyors, and contractors of in-house and external project teams
  • Attending a range of project group and technical meetings
  • Ensuring that the design and maintenance of building systems meets legislative and health and safety requirements
  • Advising clients and architects on energy use and conservation in a range of buildings and sites, aiming to minimise the environmental impact and reduce the carbon footprint
  • Designing site-specific equipment as required
  • Technical reviews of contractor's proposals and on-site Inspections of the installation of building systems and maintenance and operating procedures
  • Using specialist computer-aided design (CAD) and BIM (Revit), Trimble (Amtech), Revit / Dialux software and other resources to design the systems required for the project

Qualifications

  • Accredited Building Services degree or higher educational qualification and significant experience in a similar role
  • Ideally chartered or working towards chartered engineer status with a suitable institution
  • You will need to be an excellent communicator who can articulate complicated issues between our clients and our highly skilled project teams
  • Experience with IES modelling and Revit would be highly advantageous
