Home Based, covering the South (Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire & BCP unitary authority area of Dorset) or Central region (Berkshire, Swindon, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire & West Northamptonshire), depending upon location

Stonewater are now looking for a Senior Development Manager to deliver new business in the South/ Central region as well as the overall on-site delivery of a programme of development schemes, ensuring a smooth and effective handover into management.

You’ll lead on and serve as the primary point of contact to deliver Stonewater’s growth ambitions in the South/Central regions. You’ll also work on complex, larger developments, managing such projects at design, tender and/or construction phases, and identify, appraising, securing, and developing new projects.

Providing support to the Head of Development, you will encourage a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, customer focused service, and ability to deliver the results in a changing environment. You’ll provide continuity of leadership to the team of Development Managers and Project Officers in the absence of the Head of Development or during time of high workload pressure, and act as a role model, ensuring an agile and commercial approach is taken to the delivery of new homes.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a natural leader who has a confident, independent, and pro-active approach.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the Housing sector either through educational qualifications or through experience.
  • Have a working knowledge of affordable housing including the planning process, Homes England practices and housing policies, as well as basic construction knowledge.
  • Have excellent communication skills, including verbal, written and presentation skills and experience in establishing and maintaining key stakeholder relationships.
  • Have good problem-solving skills, able to identify weaknesses within systems and procedures.
  • Have experience in securing and delivering new development opportunities.
  • Have good business management skills and an understanding of delivering excellent customer service in a social and commercial setting.
  • Have well established partnerships and contacts within the South/Central region.

Appointment to this role will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service Check, satisfactory references and possession of a valid Right to Work document.
