Senior Quantity Surveyor

A Senior Quantity Surveyor is needed for a Design & Build main contractor who have recently acquired a new £250M student accommodation project in Manchester.
With a strong foothold in the residential, commercial, education, and student accommodation markets, this contractor can offer exposure to a wide variety of developments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities for construction projects.
- Conduct quantity take-offs and measurements from architectural and engineering drawings.
- Analyse project specifications and identify potential cost-saving measures.
- Advise on procurement strategies and assist in the selection of subcontractors and suppliers.
- Negotiate and prepare contracts, including variations and change orders.
- Monitor project costs and expenditures, ensuring they align with the approved budget.
- Provide advice on cost implications of design decisions and propose value engineering solutions.
- Conduct cost analyses and cost forecasting to support project planning and decision-making.
- Manage and lead a team of quantity surveyors, providing guidance and mentorship.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure cost control and effective project delivery.
- Prepare and submit progress claims and final accounts, including managing contractual disputes if they arise.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement risk management strategies related to costs.
- Keep up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in quantity surveying.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a Main Contractor environment.
- In-depth knowledge and practical application of the JCT contract.
- Track record of successfully managing projects from tender through to handover.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic team.
- Relevant industry qualifications.
