Includem is a charity that provides one to one relationship-based support to young people and their families/carers.  At the heart of what Includem does, is a strong belief that no young person is beyond help. They see a world where every young person is respected, valued and has the opportunity to actively participate in all aspects of society. Includem is headquartered in Glasgow with regional offices in Aberdeen, Dundee, Fife and Stirling.

Since their formation in 2000 they have worked with more than 5000 young people aged 5-25, helping to improve their lives, and the lives of their families and carers.  They employ more than 120 staff all of whom are passionate and committed to making a difference to the lives of the young people and families which they support.

The role

The Head of Development at includem will play a pivotal role in managing the delivery of the organisation’s contract and fund management actions, including overseeing the tendering and proposal process. Reporting directly to the Director of Services, this role is essential in achieving includem's strategic objectives. The post holder will provide direct line management and support to the Contracts Manager and Funding Manager, ensuring that includem’s interests are represented in relevant forums and actions.

This is a great opportunity to be key member of the senior management team, and the Head of Development role will contribute to strategy development, risk management, and governance, supporting the Director of Services in designing and implementing tendering and funding strategies to address emerging needs and challenges.

 Responsibilities include leading the delivery of tenders and funding responses, strengthening and diversifying revenue streams, ensuring effective delivery of contractual and fund reporting commitments, and working collaboratively with other teams to meet the organization’s strategic goals. The role also involves planning and monitoring project delivery, identifying risks and opportunities, developing new service proposals, and expanding support in new Local Authority areas.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in business development activities
  • Proven knowledge and experience of using appropriate portals like PCS Tender/Public Contracts Scotland, or experience in fundraising and managing relationships with Trusts and Foundations.
  • Be adept at building and growing sustainable relationships with stakeholders and possess qualifications or equivalent skills and experience at SCQF Level 10.
  • Be able to demonstrate continual professional development with sector-relevant training
  • Have strong organisational skills with a track record of completing complex tasks within agreed timescales.
  • Excel in communication, networking, and relationship building.
  • Have proficiency in written and verbal communication,
  • IT skills including the use of Microsoft packages and databases
