Senior Estimating Engineer
Location: Warrington or St Helens
Up to £55,000 + Car Allowance
Permanent, Hybrid

A leading multi-disciplinary design & build contractor is looking for an experienced Estimator/Quantity Surveyor to lead their estimating efforts and secure profitable contracts for company projects. The company operate across utilities, power, nuclear, chemical, pharmaceutical, energy and food & drink sectors.

Reporting into the Estimating Director, you would be based from either their Warrington or St Helens offices (hybrid) on a permanent staff basis.


Key Responsibilities: Senior Estimating Engineer

  • Conduct technical and contractual reviews of tender enquiries.
  • Prepare detailed estimates using QA procedures and estimating software.
  • Source competitive quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Perform detailed take-offs to support tender reviews and financial control.
  • Collaborate with internal divisions for necessary tender information.
  • Attend site visits and client meetings in the UK and overseas.
  • Brief project teams on successful tenders.
  • Supervise and mentor Estimating Engineers for timely and complete tender submissions.
  • Provide specialist estimating services across the business.
  • Assess user requirements, scope, and design quality for accurate estimation.
  • Maintain excellent knowledge of contractual arrangements and estimating practices.
  • Manage unpredictable workloads and deadlines with flexibility and organisational skills.
  • Engage in annual performance reviews and continuous training.


Key Requirements: Senior Estimating Engineer

  • Relevant qualifications (HNC, ONC, or City and Guilds) in an appropriate discipline.
  • Extensive experience in estimating within the chemical, pharmaceutical, nuclear, utilities, or food & drink industries.
  • Strong understanding of current estimating and commercial practices.
  • Solid knowledge of engineering and project management.
  • Proficiency in HSE and QA compliance.
  • High computer literacy.
  • Effective people management and leadership skills.
