Emergency Gas Service Engineer

Location: Greater Belfast Area, BT3. Please note this organisation does not offer a work from home/ hybrid option.

Duration: Permanent. You will need to be eligible to work in the UK on a permanent basis.

Hours:  Full time position working 37.5 hours per week.  You will start work at 8.30am Monday to Friday, finishing at 5.00pm. They will also be placed onto a 24 hours emergency rota

Salary:  £24080 - £30000 dependant on experience and gas tickets held. Overtime has different rates depending on the season and on the rota. This would usually equate to earning an extra £8,500 - £14,000 per annum. This includes the overtime and the standby/call out fees.

On behalf of our client, award-winning utilities company with a passion for sustainability, we are seeking a Gas Engineer to join their Belfast based team. The Engineer will join a team of experienced engineers and can expect a development plan, regular salary reviews and an annual bonus.

The Engineer will provide the 24/7 first response gas emergency service in line with agreed Standards and Safety Procedures. The jobholder will also be involved with the installation, repair and exchange of meters and other assets.

You will need:

  • Full UK driving licence
  • ACS - CCN1 or CMA 1 - 3, or DMI 1 CESP1, MET1, REGT1 AND NVQ in Gas Installation & Maintenance or Plumbing or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 1 years’ post apprenticeship or similar experience in domestic gas utilisation and/or heating & plumbing including diagnostics
  • Customer service experience
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Relevant IT skills
  • Professional and flexible approach

****Candidates with relevant NVQ qualifications but have yet to complete post apprentice experience and obtain gas safe registration may be considered for a Trainee placement

Duties:

  • Safely provide 24/7 first response gas emergency service in line with standard operating procedures and regulated standards of service.
  • Undertake after-hour standby duties as per the programmed rota.
  • Undertake all gas work in line with ACS, IGEM and all other relevant standards, in a safe and productive manor.
  • Provide updates on all work-related activities as required including documentation of all gas work undertaken and any unsafe situations encountered.
  • Account and document all assets, materials and parts utilised in allocated activities.
  • Maintain company provided vehicle, tools, equipment and PPE in good working order; reporting defects, accidents or loss when encountered.
