Are you a Teaching or Support Assistant with experience with SEMH needs?

We are looking for an experienced SEMH (Social Emotional & Mental Health) Support Assistant to work in a Bradford Primary School in BD21, Keighley.

The School is looking for a passionate practitioner who is flexible and who can adapt to support diverse Additional Needs. The children you will be supporting may have come from a disadvantaged background, may have experienced Trauma, or may have complex emotional and social needs. With this in mind, the successful candidate will be a resilient and compassionate with a positive can do attitude.
Your role will be to ensure that all children have equal access to learning opportunities, ensuring they feel safe and secure and can thrive within an inclusive environment.

Your roles and responsibilities could include:

  • Providing group or 1:1 support
  • Encourage the social and emotional development of students, promoting positive behaviour and self-esteem, this may include supporting children with managing and creating friendships as well as creating boundaries
  • Assist students with academic tasks as well as supporting emotional and social need
  • Monitor and record student progress and behaviour
  • Collaborate closely with class teachers and the SENCO

You will be able to build professional relationships with parents and carers and be able to feedback daily on progress of needs. It is important to evidence an understanding around Special Educational Needs, including Social and Emotional needs and how learning may look different for these children. This means you must be flexible for change and varied responsibility when needed.

For this role, you will  need:

  • Qualifications relating to the role, ideally Level 2 or above
  • GCSE grade Maths, English and Science
  • An enhanced DBS
