Hub Health and Safety Coordinator | Manchester | Full Time and Permanent | 37.5 hrs | up to £25,000 per annum DOE
Spire Healthcare have an exciting opportunity for a Health and Safety Coordinator to join our team at our Greater Manchester hub, consisting our Manchester Hospital, The OrthTeam Centre and Spire Histology Centre (Path lab).

Contract type: Permanent
Working hours: Monday to Friday between 8am and 5 pm
The purpose of the Hub Health and Safety Coordinator is to support the HUB Health & Safety Manager to coordinate the implementation and management of the Spire Healthcare Health & Safety Management Systems in the HUB sites.
You will assist the HUB Health & Safety Manager in ensuring the provision of high quality and safe care and services at all times in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and ensure the Management of the Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999 are complied with.
Duties and responsibilities - not limited to
- All administration requirements for the maintenance of the Health & Safety Management System folders
- Preparation of Datix H&S incident reports to assist the HUB Health & Safety Manager with the analysis of trends, near misses, incidents etc.
- Updating local health and safety arrangements as required and distributing throughout the HUB sites.
- Maintenance of Local Hospital Wide Action Plan spread sheet in each HUB site, and follow up on outstanding actions as directed by the HUB Health & Safety Manager
- Maintenance of the Local Hospital Wide Risk Assessment Library in each HUB site, ensuring actions have been added to the Hospital Wide Action Plan for monitoring
- Administration of Health & Safety Flash Alerts, responding to Central Health and Safety Team within the time frame of 7 days and collation of departmental responses across the HUB sites
Who we're looking for:
- Good standard of secondary education with demonstrable literacy and numeracy skills
- IOSH Managing Safely / IOSH Working Safely course
- NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (or the willingness to undertake qualification )
- Previous experience working in the healthcare industry or a similar customer orientated organisation in essential
- Track record of successful people and process management, ideally in a multi-functional environment
- Understanding of Health & Safety and risk issues and legislation
- Competent user of the MS Office suite of products in order to meet the requirements of the role
- Ability to understand and manage effectively the impact of competing pressures and conflicting priorities
- Ability to challenge constructively in a solution orientated way
- Strong communication skills
- Appropriate interpersonal and team working skills
