We’re looking for a passionate, driven and ambitious individual to join the purchasing department, that’s currently a team of 3. The company are looking for a Purchasing Assistant with a background in administration and a mentality that shares the company’s values.

Our client is a pioneer and innovator within the telecoms industry, working with some of the largest telecommunications and networking companies, including many household brand names. As a Purchasing Assistant, you’ll play an active role in nurturing and contributing to these long-standing relationships.

What will your role as a Purchasing Assistant entail?

  • Raising orders for products, supplies and services, maintaining attention to detail with quantities, lead times and desired cost prices.
  • Using a CRM/ERP system – Openda to process and log all actions.
  • Resolving stock delivery issues and communicating all relevant updates to the business.
  • Source quotes for new products, when required. You’ll always be finding a minimum of 3 quotes in order to select the most competitive option, based on numerous factors.
  • Work closely with the sales team, ensuring strong communication and always prioritising the needs of the customer.
  • Meeting with the sales team bi-weekly, to cross communicate all requirements and share any new information, concerns or notes.
  • Cooperating with other departments, liaising with production, kitting, warehouse and drivers, to discuss and prepare schedules for collections, deliveries and more.
  • Producing daily and weekly reports.
  • Working closely with suppliers, communicating competently and professionally via the telephone and email.
  • Monitoring and maintaining stock levels, forecasting demand and preparing/planning supply.
  • Practicing good housekeeping, with general administration.

What qualities will make you the perfect Purchasing Assistant?

  • Experience in previous administration roles is needed. Purchasing experience would be ideal.
  • Confidence in communising with colleagues and partners internally and externally.
  • Skilful in the use of the full Microsoft Office package, Excel especially.
  • Any CRM/ERP exposure will be beneficial.
  • Target driven, keen to achieve highly while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Independent, able to manage one’s own workflow, balancing multiple tasks comfortably.
  • A forward thinking and proactive mindset, any demonstratable experience in streamlining or improving processes.
  • Being a true team player, happy to assist colleagues across the whole business.
  • Full UK driving license is mandatory.
